Parker Ear, Nose & Throat
Andrew J. Parker, M.D.
Norwalk, Westport, New Canaan
Dr. Parker and his staff treat all ear, nose and throat problems in children and adults. If any member of your family is experiencing a sleep disorder, Parker Ear Nose & Throat of Fairfield County can help. Snoring may be an indication of obstructed breathing and should not be taken lightly. In children, snoring may be a sign of problems with the tonsils and adenoids. A chronically snoring child should be examined by an otolaryngologist, who may recommend a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy to return the child to full health.
Dr. Parker is using a new tonsillectomy technique, called Thermal Fusion or tissue welding, that helps patients experience less pain, fewer post-surgical complications and have a quicker recovery.

Located in Waterbury and Southbury, The Center for Women’s Health in Connecticut has been providing exceptional care to women of all ages since the 1970s. The focus of the center is to give each patient highly personalized, quality care from board certified physicians that they can trust.
The Center for Women’s Health in Connecticut provides a full range of comprehensive gynecologic and obstetric care for women. They also offer accredited in-office ultrasound services and care for fertility and continence issues. Obstetric services include prenatal care and classes, and hi-risk obstetrics and co-management with Yale Maternal Fetal Medicine and Perinatology. Gynecology options feature cancer screening, including: breast, cervical, ovarian and uterine; abnormal pap smear evaluation and treatment; colposcopy; laparoscopic surgery; robotic surgery; in-office procedures; initial infertility assessment and more.
The center also offers menopause management, contraception and family planning, BRCA gene testing and other services.
St. Vincent’s Medical Center’s new Birthplace is the only in-hospital birthing center in Fairfield County and includes two private birth suites where mothers can labor and deliver under the guidance of a midwife.
The Birthplace at St. Vincent’s offers the advantage of natural, minimal intervention-delivery by a midwife to appropriate patients with the safety net of a medical center, and following birthing center protocols.
The growing popularity of the midwife experience is due to several reasons including the continuous physical and emotional support during labor offered by the midwife, and incorporating the needs of the family into the birth. This does not in any way replace the traditional hospital birth, but just provides an alternative for those who seek it.
The midwife remains with the patient, evaluating maternal and fetal status, the progression of the delivery, and also provides immediate care for the newborn. The midwife works with the patient throughout pregnancy, educating and instilling confidence in the naturalness of the childbirth process.
The concept behind midwife delivery focuses on personalized, constant one-on-one care from a holistic perspective, starting with prenatal education, right through to labor that can include massage, whirlpool and other relaxation techniques, and a delivery with minimal intervention. Children are welcome as the emphasis is on family-centered care. The mother’s wishes are respected as much as possible.
