Waldorf Summer Camp is a day camp for boys and girls ages 3-14, divided into two age groups — ages 3-8 and 9-14. The camp offers a full day program. We offer a variety of quality activities and special programs led by talented and dedicated educators. Waldorf will give your child summer days with the right balance of activities and relaxation — filled with discovery, creativity, imagination and the opportunity to simply “be a kid.”
Our programs run from June 22 through August 14 with a different theme each week. Our Explorers program, for ages 3-8, will feature daily activities including baking and enjoying snacks, and making arts and crafts related to the theme of the week using natural materials such as wool, beeswax, silk, wood and more. The campers will also enjoy water and mud play, organic gardening and cooking. We follow a simple daily rhythm that provides the campers with a sense of trust and ease, while they explore nature, make new friends and learn new skills.
The children that attend the older age camp will experience more specific instructional activities. They can sign up for weeks that will allow them to explore the sport of archery, from basic skills to more advanced shooting and challenging styles. We offer a week of “circus arts” that allows children to challenge themselves physically with our professional circus arts instructor. Campers can also sign up for theater, shelter and vehicle building and more.
Waldorf Summer Camp is held on the campus of the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School, an independent day school in Newtown, offering grades 1-8 and early childhood classes. The Housatonic Valley Waldorf School is a fully accredited member of AWSNA and CAIS.
