With approximately 150 students in preschool through sixth grade, Cold Spring School is a progressive independent day school. At Cold Spring, teachers create a rich, child-centered learning environment and guide each student on a journey to increased knowledge, curiosity, and compassion. The school offers a flexible arrival time between 8 and 8:15 a.m. and an optional, Extended Day program from 3-5:30 p.m. Vacation childcare is offered on many days when school is not in session.

Mission Statement: Cold Spring School challenges children to become self-reliant, curious and resourceful problem solvers with the academic and social skills to engage constructively and ethically in our diverse, changing world.

Unique Features: Our students represent the diverse cultural and racial backgrounds found in the greater New Haven area. With a strong commitment to socioeconomic diversity as well, over 44% of our current students receive financial aid. Classes are multi-age, staffed by two full-time teachers who use a thematic approach to guide each student toward developmentally-appropriate academic and social goals. Children are challenged to think as well as act, to discover alternate ways to reach solutions, and to work with one another toward problem solving. All Cold Spring students study Spanish, art, fitness, and music. Our exciting program also includes Tinkering

for hands-on science, math, and engineering, and climbing with our one-of-a-kind custom climbing wall in our Community Building.
